Welcome
to our Labrador Retriever page.
The
Labrador Retriever is one of the world's most popular breeds.
This breed originated in Newfoundland where they aided fishermen with
their nets. The dogs express job was to swim to shore dragging the
ends of the fishing nets in their mouths. They would then give
the net to the fisherman and swim back to the boats. It is
obvious that the Labs are accomplished swimmers and, as you can see in
our pictures, they enjoy daily swims on our farm .
Today
they are used for retrieving waterfowl and flushing out other small
game birds. They are also used for therapy dogs, guide dogs for the
blind, drug searching dogs and field support dogs due to their extreme
intelligence and quiet dispositions. These are the fine qualities that
all of our puppies display. Labs are completely satisfied to live in
smaller homes, even though they are a larger dog. Our dogs
personalities lend themselves well to being house pets because they
have a very quiet, calm demeanor. The Labs are not difficult to
train because they like to work for their handlers. These dogs
usually get along fine with other animals and are very patient with
children; they are truly friends of humans. To this end our puppies
are humanized from the very earliest stages of
development.
The
Lab is a strong built, medium sized, all purpose dog. Males stand 22
1/2 to 24 1/2 inches at the shoulders and weigh 60 to 75 pounds. The
females are 21 1/2 to 23 1/2 inches at the shoulders and weigh 55 to
70 pounds. Labs have a short coat that does not require much
maintenance. All of our dogs adhere to the breed standards and we
breed high quality animals with outstanding pedigrees. On rare
occasions, we will go to an outside stud for a specific trait or
pedigree, but most often, when you visit our home, you will see
both parents.
We
have all three colors of Labs, chocolate, black and yellows. When
applicable, our dogs hips are certified through the OFA. Our
puppies are covered by our full, written guarantee
.
